So every year we must look for Aviv Barley to set the new year. The current Rabbinical calendar is mathematically set, and
the Rabbi's DO NOT observe the scriptural command to look for Aviv Barley to set the calendar year. Because of this .. the
Jewish Rabbinical calendar can be up to an ENTIRE MONTH OFF!!!!
So once the New Moon of Aviv is determined... then we look at scripture to figure out the dates of the feasts. Passover is
the fourteenth day... Firstfruits of Barley is the Shabbat after during the week of Unleaved Bread. This is when we begin
to count the 49 days up to Shavuot. So you see, if the first day of the first month is set wrong... the dates we need to
meet with our Abba are then all off.
Shavuot Scriptures
Festival of Shavuot
15 " 'From the day after the Sabbath, the day you brought the sheaf of the wave offering, count off seven full
weeks. 16 Count off fifty days up to the day after the seventh Sabbath, and then present an offering of new grain to YHVH.
17 From wherever you live, bring two loaves made of two-tenths of an ephah of the finest flour, baked with yeast, as a wave
offering of firstfruits to YHVH. 18 Present with this bread seven male lambs, each a year old and without defect, one young
bull and two rams. They will be a burnt offering to YHVH, together with their grain offerings and drink offerings; a food
offering, an aroma pleasing to YHVH. 19 Then sacrifice one male goat for a sin offering [c] and two lambs, each a year old,
for a fellowship offering. 20 The priest is to wave the two lambs before YHVH as a wave offering, together with the bread
of the firstfruits. They are a sacred offering to YHVH for the priest. 21 On that same day you are to proclaim a sacred assembly
and do no regular work.
This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, wherever you live.
22 " 'When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap to the very edges of your field or gather the gleanings of
your harvest. Leave them for the poor and for the foreigner residing among you. I am YHVH your Elohim.' "
Leviticus 23: 15-22
"You shall count seven weeks for yourself; begin to count the seven weeks from the time you begin to put the
sickle to the grain. "Then you shall keep the Feast of Weeks to Yahweh your Elohim with the tribute of a freewill offering
from your hand, which you shall give as Yahweh your Elohim blesses you. "You shall rejoice before Yahweh your Elohim,
you and your son and your daughter, your male servant and your female servant, the Levite who is within your gates, the stranger
and the fatherless and the widow who are among you, at the place where Yahweh your Elohim chooses to make His name abide.
"And you shall remember that you were a slave in Egypt, and you shall be careful to observe these statutes. (Deuteronomy
16:9-12 NKJV)
"And in all that I have said to you, be circumspect and make no mention of the name of other deities, nor let
it be heard from your mouth. "Three times you shall keep a feast to Me in the year: "You shall keep the Feast of
Unleavened Bread (you shall eat unleavened bread seven days, as I commanded you, at the time appointed in the month of Abib,
for in it you came out of Egypt; none shall appear before Me empty); "and the Feast Shavuot, the firstfruits of your
labors which you have sown in the field; and Sukkot - the Feast of Ingathering at the end of the year, when you have gathered
in the fruit of your labors from the field. "Three times in the year all your males shall appear before Yahweh EL. (Exodus
23:13-17 NKJV)

So Shavuot is one of THREE festivals that men are commanded to appear in Jerusalem. Also, that Shavuot is a HARVEST festival.
The harvest of wheat happens during this time, and the firstfruit portions are brought into the temple to be waved to YHVH.
This is very important to keep in mind as we will see the connection of the disciples observing Shavuot (even Paul) in
the Renewed Covenant. (Brit Hadoshah)
Shavuot Customs
A number of traditions have become associated with Shavuot. The synagogue is usually decorated with plants, flowers
and other greens. Meals consist of many dairy dishes such as Blintzes and Mac-n-Cheese. (Milk being symbolic of Torah).
The Book of Ruth is required reading in the synagogue because of the agricultural basis of the book and Ruth's embracing
of the G-d of Israel and the Israelites' beliefs.
Orthodox Jews stay up the entire first night of Shavuot and study the Torah. There is a legend that says the Israelites
over slept on Shavuot morning and almost missed gathering at the mountain in the morning for the Torah. (Sound familiar?)
Messianic Applications
So where's Shavuot in the renewed covenant? It's easy, once you know what to look for!
When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled, they were all in one place together. And suddenly there came from the sky a
noise like a strong driving wind, 2 and it filled the entire house in which they were. Then there appeared to them tongues
as of fire, 3 which parted and came to rest on each one of them. And they were all filled with the holy Spirit and began to
speak in different tongues, 4 as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim. Acts 2:1-4
Now there were devout Jews from every nation under heaven staying in Jerusalem.
Now why were MEN from EVERY NATION in JERUSALEM???
For Shavuot....as YHVH instructed. All males must appear before YHVH!!!!
Did Paul Keep the Feasts??? You Bet!
And Paul [after this] tarried [there] yet a good while, and then took his leave of the brethren, and sailed thence into Syria,
and with him Priscilla and Aquila; having shorn [his] head in Cenchrea: for he had a vow.
A Nazaraite vow by the way!
And he came to Ephesus, and left them there: but he himself entered into the synagogue, and reasoned with the Jews.
When they desired [him] to tarry longer time with them, he consented not;
But bade them farewell, saying, I must by all means keep this feast that cometh in Jerusalem: but I will return again unto
you, if Elohim will. And he sailed from Ephesus. Acts 18:21
So yes, even Paul dropped what he was doing to hurry over to Jerusalem.
Shavuot is such a special time to connect back with YHVH. There are so many more beautiful symbols and traditions - too many
to list here.
But most important... Shavuot is a Moedim. An "Appointed time". This means YHVh set this time and stated he
will meet with you in a very special way on this day.
Yes, we meet with Him everyday, but we are instructed to meet with him and receive something very special on this day.
We hope you embrace the gift of Shavuot that your Father has given you. May you receive wonderful abundant blessings
of knowledge and closeness with your Father. Please email us...we'd love you hear from you! Chag Shavuot!
